Boeing aligns with AT&T in $400M deal

Comment on this story

The Boeing Company selected AT&T Inc. as its primary telecommunications provider, in a 5-year contract, valued at $400 million. The nation’s largest wireless carrier is required to provide wireline and wireless services, with a goal of enhancing Boeing’s business processes and productivity.

The plan is for AT&T to combine Boeing’s existing telecommunications networks into one IP-enabled voice and data network. The carrier will also supplement with wide area network services, voice services, audio conferencing, AT&T managed Internet Services and wireless voice and data services.

To provide Boeing with enterprise connectivity, AT&T will enforce Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-enabled Virtual Private Networks. Further, when AT&T’s services are implemented, Boeing will have the ability to synchronize voice and data access dial plans with its conferencing and local services environments. Boeing joins a list of other companies AT&T has won over in the past year including Royal Dutch Shell, Starbucks, IBM, General Motors and the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Big Business as usual. A lotta hype around solutions that will likely never be implemented while the handshakes made behind the scenens are made richer. Big business in America as usual.
