Cellular One of Ohio and Michigan announced Lindsay Notwell has been appointed director of wireless data, heading up this new department. Notwell will be responsible for building and managing the wireless data group and supervise the rollout of various wireless programs. Prior to Cellular One, Notwell was vice president of professional services at Sarcom Inc.
American Mobile Satellite Crop. has promoted Susan Byrd Lubert to vice president of human resources. Byrd Lubert, who joined the company in July as assistant to the vice president of human resources, is responsible for recruiting, compensation and training functions for AMSC.
She also manages facilities and administrative functions at AMSC headquarters in Reston, Va. Prior to her employment at AMSC, Byrd Lubert was vice president of corporate human resources and administration for Orbital Sciences Corp.
BellSouth Crop. has announced a new management team to lead the company following the year-end retirement of Vice Chairman William O. McCoy. F. Duane Ackerman has been elected vice chairman of the board and chief operating officer.
Jere A. Drummond will succeed Akerman as president and chief executive officer of BellSouth Telecommunications, while Ealre Mauldin was promoted to president of BellSouth Enterprises. BellSouth Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Clendenin said, “This puts in place the senior management team that will lead us through the 1996 Olympics and toward the turn of the century.”
Qualcomm Inc. has appointed Dr. Ronald E. Foerster as senior vice president of wireless infrastructure products for the company’s wireless telecommunications division.
Foerster will focus on the continued development of Code Division Multiple Access infrastructure products, as well as sales and marketing of those lines. He has 24 years of experience in telecommunications, working previously with U S West NewVector Group Inc., AT&E Corp. and Northern Telecom Ltd.
CelluLink has named T. Jay Ronald sales consultant for the Wisconsin counties of Adams, Green Lake, Juneau, Marquette, Waushara and Waupaca. He has seven years of direct sales experience and most recently worked for the Keebler Co. CelluLink is Wisconsin’s single largest cellular service system.
Transcrypt International, a wireless and secure communications company, hired a number of people to fill key engineering roles to strengthen efforts in the development and manufacture of an APCO 25 (Association of Public Safety Commission Officials International Inc.) digital radio for public safety.
Ronald Kabler, previously the company’s vice president of engineering, was promoted to managing director for the radio strategic business unit program, Radio SBU.
Thierry Guichon has had hired as engineering group leader for the radio program. Guichon joined Transcrypt from Transworld in Escondido, Calif. Additional engineers who have come on board include Steve Newman, previously with Bendix-King Radio and Bill Shuman, formerly with Motorola Inc.
Rob Burge and Mark Nispel, both recently employed with Motorola, have been transferred to the Radio SBU program.
Chris Brown was appointed vice president of sales for the Americas, for Microwave Networks Inc., responsible for directing and coordinating sales programs and staff for Latin and North America, including managing a network of international representatives and developing sales strategies for target markets.
Brown’s immediate tasks are to strengthen MNI’s position among American telecommunications companies, identify and implement strategies for new opportunities and enhance strategic global partnerships.
Prior to his employment at MNI, Brown spend 10 years with Andrew Corp., most recently as international market manager.
Roseanna DeMaria, formerly of the New York County District Attorney’s Office, has joined McCaw Cellular Communications Inc. as vice president of risk management to help combat cellular fraud.
DeMaria will spearhead the development of technological solutions and services for counterfeit cellular equipment problems as well as implement preventive fraud management systems. She will be McCaw’s spokesperson on cellular fraud and will coordinate and support legislative efforts toward reducing cellular fraud.

Continued growth in Canada and the United States has let Sinclair Radio Laboratories to hire Heather Sinclair (no family relation) as the company’s marketing analyst and coordinator.
Sinclair recently was employed in the marketing department of Volkswagen Canada Inc. In her new position, Sinclair will handle marketing activities in Canada, the United States and overseas. David E. Newman was selected to be first vice chairman. Newman is projects and engineering manager in the networks and telecommunications division of Exxon Computing Services Co. Robert B. Kisor, executive director of engineering and technical services for Paramount Pictures, was picked to serve as second vice chairman. James N. Burroughs was elected third vice chairman, ITA said. D. Burce Walter has been appointed president and chief executive officer of RadioMail Corp., a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of two way messaging for mobil computer users. Walter was formerly president of Coactive Computing Corp. and president and CEO of GRiD Systems, a subsidiary of the Tandy Corp.
