DALLAS-Polish Telephones and Microwave Corp. signed an agreement to distribute DSC Communications Corp.’s Airspan product in Poland.
Airspan is a point-to-multipoint wireless access solution that helps provide basic telephone service to buildings in low-density suburban areas.
It reportedly has a range of up to 20 kilometers from the base station and requires minimal installation time and cost. It can use the existing network infrastructure or provide new network implementation as needed, allowing the network operator to provide service to new subscribers quickly and efficiently, according to Polish Telephones.
DSC noted that the Polish government has stated its objective to install more than 12 million additional telephone lines by the earliest possible date with a large portion of the new lines expected to be wireless. Polish Telephones said Airspan complements the company’s private branch exchange and point-to-point microwave transmission systems in providing telephone infrastructure to that country.
Polish Telephones and Microwave said it currently develops, manufactures, markets, distributes, installs and services telecommunications equipment in Poland with a primary emphasis on digital PBX switches, related enhancements and peripheral equipment. The company said it also is licensed to market, distribute, install and service microwave transmission products.
