WASHINGTON-WINForum, a trade association of wireless telecommunications and computer manufacturers, has filed a request with the Federal Communications Commission to allocate radio spectrum for new devices that will permit extremely high-speed wireless multimedia information networking.
The association specifically requested 250 megahertz of spectrum for the proposed Shared Unlicensed Personal Radio Network or “SUPERNet” in the 5.1-5.35 GHz band for wireless local area networking and computer-to-computer communications.
