NEW YORK-Following a one-year system trial, Ericsson Inc. and Telenor AS (formerly Norwegian Telecom) implemented a Universal Personal Telecommunications system, providing users one personal telephone number at which they can be reached worldwide, said Ericsson.
In the trial, 500 users were able to employ a full range of UPT services using any telephone from any location in the world. All outgoing calls are charged to the user’s UPT account number.
