TAMPA, Fla.-GTE Telecommunications Services issued a new version of its ACCESS roamer billing system that distributes information to GTE’s member cellular carriers through a flexible client-server architecture. ACCESS previously operated only in a mainframe computer environment.
The new version of ACCESS uses a data processing capability that allows settlement and exchange data to be processed and transmitted directly to a carrier’s server each business day, GTE said. As a result, carriers can manage and analyze roaming data on their desktop workstations. This analysis previously was done on paper. Installation at carrier locations began last month.
