GENEVA-AirTouch Communications Inc. has teamed with American Management Systems and Sun Microsystems Computer Co. to deliver a customer care system, the companies announced.
The new system allows cellular customers to access an exact image of their hard copy phone bill or other information via fax and instantly change the price plan over the phone. The system is operating in AirTouch’s Sacramento, Calif., and San Diego calling centers. Two more calling centers are scheduled for roll-out before 1997.
Developed in nine months, the system is based on business process re-engineering and state-of-the-art client/server architecture, commented the companies.
AirTouch is leading the project and providing the process engineering and business requirements. AMS is supplying custom applications software and Sun is providing workstations and servers for the system.
