BALTIMORE-Westinghouse Communications and Information Systems Co., a unit of Westinghouse Electric Corp., has signed a $240 million, seven-year services contract with DCR Communications Inc.
The two companies also signed an agreement calling for a financial investment by Westinghouse in DCR and granted Westinghouse representation on DCR’s board of directors. DCR, a Washington, D.C.-based telecommunications company, plans to bid in the upcoming Federal Communications Commission C-block auction for personal communications services scheduled to begin Dec. 11.
As part of the agreements, Westinghouse will assign an engineering team to work with DCR to design and implement an intelligent network, supporting systems and facilities, including a wireless technology testing and integration laboratory.
