Securicor Wireless Networks has named Greg Kleven vice president of worldwide sales. Kleven will plan, implement and head all global sales programs for the company. Previously, Kleven worked for Sequent Computer Systems where he created its Telecommunications American Operation, which consists of major account teams selling to the regional Bell operating companies, independent telephone providers and emerging cable companies.
Dr. Joseph Kraemer has been named managing director of the new communications and electronics industries consulting practice of A.T. Kearney, the recently acquired consulting subsidiary of EDS Corp.
Kraemer worked for the former EDS Management Consulting Services organization that now operates under the name of A.T. Kearney. He was also appointed vice president of the new organization, and will continue to be responsible for the consulting services provided to the telecommunications, wireless, information, entertainment, broadcasting and electronics industries, the company said.
Jim David has been named vice president of sales for Toll Free Cellular. David will be responsible for the sale of Toll Free Cellular services to businesses wanting to offer their customers free calls from their cellular phones. Prior to joining Toll Free, David served as vice president at Seattle-based Aldus Corp., where he was responsible for domestic sales, marketing and customer service.
Lynch Corp. announced it has elected Salvatore Muoio, a vice president of Lazard Freres & Co. LLC, to its board of directors.
Prior to joining Lazard in March, Muoio was the director of research at Gabelli Asset Management Co. and a securities analyst focusing on the telecommunications and media industries. He also helped launch the Gabelli Global Telecommunications Fund.
Lynch has about 48,000 cellular pops and is a limited partner in applicants that have filed applications to bid in the scheduled Federal Communications Commission C-block auction for personal communications services spectrum.
VLSI Technology Inc. appointed Donald Ciffone senior vice president of VLSI products and named Bernd Braune senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. Gregory Hinckley is now senior vice president and chief financial officer.
The company has also realigned internal business units into three major areas of concentration-computing, communications and digital entertainment. Thierry Laurent and Rex Naden will share general management responsibility for the Communications Products Division.
ComTech Mobile Telephone Co. has named Rob Laurrance director of sales. Laurrance will be responsible for direct and indirect sales distribution and wholesale equipment operations at all ComTech branches.
Caraway Communications Inc. has named Kevin Camp vice president of operations. He will head all current and future site development projects for the company. Caraway is performing site development services for Pacific Bell Mobile Services’ personal communications services project in Los Angeles.
Lightbridge Inc. has appointed Lisa Modisette manager of wireless intelligence. Modisette served as an independent consultant to Lightbridge since late 1994. As a consultant, she researched and analyzed the changing nature of the wireless market, helping Lightbridge in its development of new products. Prior to her consulting work, Modisette was the director of the telecommunications industry practice at Metaphor, an IBM Corp. subsidiary that provides decision support, database marketing and management information systems.
Comsat Corp. has appointed Allen Flower vice president and chief financial officer. Since April, Flower has filled the dual roles of acting CFO and controller of the corporation. He became controller in 1992 and earlier served as vice president of finance and administration for Comsat Video Enterprises.
Alan Korobov succeeds Flower as Comsat controller. Korobov joined Comsat in 1977 from TRT Telecommunications Corp. He most recently served as vice president of finance for Comsat Mobile Communications.
Comsat named James Carroll vice president of government relations. Previously, he served as director of government relations and was responsible for managing Comsat’s communications with both the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. government.
Janet Dewar was appointed vice president of corporate affairs. In her prior position as director of corporate affairs, Dewar was responsible for managing Comsat’s communications with the media and public as well as community relations and employee relations.
Comcast Cellular Communications Inc. has named four executives to newly created senior level positions in both the company’s domestic and international divisions.
Ray Dombroski is now senior vice president of engineering and technical planning. Dombroski was promoted from his position of vice president of engineering and new technology.
Charles Moir was named vice president and general manager of Comcast Metrophone. He previously managed the Comcast Cellular One New Jersey and Delaware properties.
Comcast selected Brian Gibbons as vice president and general manager of International Wireless. Gibbons, in addition to exploring cellular opportunities in Ireland, Mexico and the Middle East, will take on the company’s Brazilian operations.
PCS PrimeCo L.P. has appointed Lowell McAdam executive vice president and chief operating officer of PrimeCo. McAdam, currently AirTouch’s vice president of international operations, Europe, will oversee the building, launch and operation of PrimeCo’s wireless network and manage customer operations. McAdam joined AirTouch as executive director of international applications and operations in 1993.
Subscriber Computing Inc. has appointed Linwood Little vice president of sales and marketing. Little’s responsibilities include expanding the national and international sales force, increasing the
firm’s market share of its software management systems and consulting services and implementing market strategies.
Prior to joining SCI, Little served as vice president of sales and marketing for NetBase Corp.
SCI has also named Andres Arteta senior business systems analyst. Arteta will be responsible for identifying client requirements and key business processes and developing solutions in response to them. Arteta also serves as an in-house technical resource to sales representatives.
American Mobile Satellite Corp. has appointed Marybeth Griswold vice president and general manager of the Fleet Communications Products business unit. Griswold will be responsible for integrating the services provided by AMSC to the fleet transportation industry. Prior to joining AMSC, Griswold held several executive positions in sales, operations and government relations at Sprint Communications Corp.
Linda Marshall is now president of Nextel Communications Inc.’s Michigan market. Marshall previously served as vice president and general manager of the company. During her 10 years with Nextel, Marshall headed the organizational growth of long distance, cellular and wireless markets in Chicago, Detroit and Denver. Nextel also named Lou Peltzer president of the company’s Ohio Valley markets. Peltzer will work out of Nextel’s Cleveland office.
