EBS TO MERGE ASSETS WITH NEWNET BUSINESS

SHELTON, Conn.-Engineering and Business Systems Inc., a global intelligent network telecommunications middleware and products provider, announced its merger with NewNet, an advanced wireless solutions provider.

The joint company, called NewNet, named former EBS Vice President and General Manager Dilip Singh its president. Singh will focus on developing strategic alliance partnerships and expanding wireless technology worldwide.

Standard Telecom to offer FLEX device

SANTA CLARA, Calif.-Standard Telecom America Inc. announced it will introduce the FLEX version of its product, Tutti, at PCS ’96 in San Francisco for actual sales and distribution in the market.

Standard has been pursuing Motorola Inc.’s FLEX one-way paging protocol since 1995, working with Motorola’s Paging Products Group on protocol specification.

Metrica announces OEM pact with AT&T

WINCHESTER, Mass.-Metrica Inc. and AT&T Corp. have signed an original equipment manufacturer agreement allowing AT&T to offer Metrica Performance Reporting tools with AT&T’s Global System for Mobile communications network Operations Management Center, Metrica announced.

Metrica said its subsystem supplies interactive access to detailed information on cell traffic, grade of service, dropped and blocked calls, handover attempts and failures and other performance measures. Using the data, operators can plan cost-effective infrastructure buildout and monitor and maintain quality of service to customers, Metrica said.

AirLink L.L.C. exits rich C-block auction

MONTREAL-The Canadian consortium AirLink L.L.C. has dropped out of the C-block auction stating high bid prices as the reason. AirLink was formed by BCE Mobile Communications Inc., Bell Canada International Inc. and AirGate L.L.C. of Atlanta. The auction is now in its third month.
