PARIS-Alcatel Telecom has signed a cooperative agreement with GE Americom. Alcatel said the agreement gives it the exclusive European distribution rights for the satellite data transmission services of the GE Starsys system.
GE Americom recently selected Alcatel as the prime contractor for the largest civil microsatellite constellation project ever to be undertaken by an operator, said Alcatel. This has given Alcatel a contract to supply the 24 satellite constellation for the GE Starsys system plus the entire ground control station network.
GE Starsys will provide locating, messaging and data transmission services for a wide range of applications, primarily for vehicle fleet and container management.
