ILLUMINET ANNOUNCES MERGER OF TWO COMPANIES IS COMPLETE

OLYMPIA, Wash.-Illuminet, formerly Independent Telecommunications Network and US Intelco Networks, announced it has integrated all aspects of US Intelco Wireless Communications Inc. into its operations.

US Intelco Wireless had operated as a separate subsidiary since 1993, providing business planning, financial, marketing and equipment procurement services to small and entrepreneurial companies entering the personal communications service market.

“Our customers need quick, effective, affordable service to be successful in the highly competitive PCS arena,” said Roger Moore, Illuminet president and chief executive officer. “We can strengthen our level of service by putting the full range of Illuminet resources behind our PCS efforts.

“Our customers can receive superior customer service, a broader range of technical expertise and the option to package PCS services with other SS7 products we offer.”

Earlier this year, US Intelco Wireless formed procurement agreements with Lucent Technologies Inc., Northern Telecom Ltd. and Motorola Inc., through which small and start-up PCS providers can purchase PCS equipment at volume discounts.

All former U.S. Intelco Wireless employees have been assigned to positions in Illuminet, in most cases in the same capacity as they previously held.
