L.M. Ericsson’s radio communications sector is responsible for almost two-thirds of the company’s sales in the second quarter, ending the three-month period with $2.7 billion net revenue, a 33 percent increase from the same period in 1995.
The Stockholm company reported a 39 percent increase in net income for the second quarter, ended June 30, to $290.5 million from $208.9 million a year earlier.
Net sales for the period were $4.1 billion, a 17 percent increase from $3.5 billion in the second quarter of 1995, said the company.
Next to radio communications, Ericsson’s public telecommunications sector was most profitable, accounting for $806.6 million net sales in the second quarter, down slightly from $841.3 million last year.
Almost half of Ericsson’s business was in Europe last quarter, where the company sold $1.9 billion. Asia was Ericsson’s second largest market, where sales reached $948.8 million for the second quarter. The United States and Canada were responsible for $573 million in net sales.
