ALEXANDRIA, Va.-The Personal Communications Industry Association announced the Industry Award Winners for 1996. Winners will receive their awards at the industry award dinner on Sept. 18 at PCIA’s annual PCS conference in San Francisco.
The Pioneer Award, given for landmark contributions in the wireless industry, will go to Al Gross, senior principal engineer at Orbital Sciences.
The Management Award, given for management innovation and excellence, will go to Charles Emling, president and CEO of A+ Network.
The Entrepreneur Award, given for noteworthy initiative in founding and building a personal communications business, will go to Steven Bernstein, president and CEO of SBA Inc.
The Technology Award, given for technical innovation and excellence, will go to J. Barclay Jones, vice president of engineering for American Personal Communications.
The Technician of the Year Award, given for consistent demonstration of exemplary technical performance, will go to Jeffrey Vaessen, an applications engineer for Hark Systems.
The Industry Builder Award, given for innovation in building a personal communications business, will go to Ray Russenberger, president and CEO of Network USA.
The Chairman’s Award, given for significant contributions to the wireless industry, will be given to Mark Bennett, president of EDR Inc.
The Community Service Award, given for corporate citizenship and service to the community, will be given to Max Kee, director of U.S. marketing operations in wireless networks at Northern Telecom.
The Al Gore Jr. LifePage Achievement Award, honoring the company that has contributed the most to the growth of PCIA’s LifePage program, will be awarded to Motorola Inc., the National Dispatch Center and Arch Nationwide Paging.
