Superconducting Core Technologies Inc. has named G. Ron Olexa chief operations officer with overall responsibility for the company’s Reach receiver front end products. Olexa also will manage the company’s relationship with Raychem Corp., SCT’s new sales and distribution partner for the Reach product line. Most recently, Olexa served as executive vice president for Dial Call Inc., which was recently acquired by Nextel Communications Inc. At Dial Call, he was responsible for officer level direction of all technical aspects of operations, including assessment of technology options, network planning and business development with equipment vendors and contractors.

Socket Communications Inc. has named John O’Leary vice president of sales. O’Leary will be responsible for leveraging the company’s data paging capabilities through the continued development of strategic reseller partnerships. He also will focus on expanding the company’s international and domestic sales presence to provide customers with integrated wireless messaging solutions. Prior to joining Socket, O’Leary served as vice president of the systems business unit with Digital Equipment Corp., where he led the marketing and sales of network services, workstations and network software in the Western United States.

Digital Transmission Systems Inc. announced Woodrow Cannon has joined the company as vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for product management, product marketing, strategic planning and corporate development for all DTS products and services worldwide. Prior to joining DTS, Cannon served as vice president of marketing at BellSouth Communications Systems.

Brite Voice Systems has named Jim Luckas director of strategic accounts and William Bush sales director. Luckas will be responsible for developing business opportunities in the western region for Brite’s enhanced services.

Before joining Brite, Luckas served as district sales manager for Intecom, selling system solutions, call center applications and enterprise solutions. In that position, he worked with Brite on several call center applications.

Bush will have sales responsibility for wireline, wireless and personal communications services providers in the eastern United States. Previously, he was the alliance partnership manager for Tandem Computers, where he was responsible for managing strategic software relationships in the telecommunications industry.

Chris Ryg is now corporate vice president and director of marketing at Hutton Communication Inc. Ryg previously served as the vice president and general manager of Communications Associates in Joliet, Ill., which was acquired by Hutton in June 1995.

Skywire Corp. appointed John D. Flynn vice president of operations. The company said Flynn has more than 14 years of experience in operations and project management with expertise in international accounts. He will report to Bryan Eagle, Skywire’s president. Flynn most recently worked for GTECH Corp., a provider of online lottery systems.

Allen Telecom Group has named Treana Tober regional sales manager for the company’s western region. She will represent products and systems of ATG’s Antenna Specialists Division in Cleveland and its Decibel Products Division in Dallas. Tober comes to the company from Hutton Communications where she was northwest regional sales manager.

Open Development Corp. has hired two new executives to oversee professional services and wireless product development. Andrea Demetroulakos was named director of professional services and is responsible for the management and growth of three groups within the organization: project management, network consulting/engineering and custom engineering. John Tallatico was named senior product manager for wireless. His responsibilities will include determining functional specifications and managing the implementation of all openMEDIA wireless products.

Chris F. Seyer was named president of Power Conversion Products Inc. Seyer formerly was executive vice president of the company and will continue to head Power Conversion Products’ overall marketing efforts with emphasis on expanding international sales. He is a co-founder of the 27-year-old company.

Omnipoint Communications Inc. announced that Gary Cuccio is the new vice president and general manager of the company’s basic trading area markets. Cuccio will be responsible for all activities relating to BTAs, including Global System for Mobile communications network deployment, marketing and sales activities. Omnipoint won 18 licenses for BTAs in the Federal Communications Commission’s C-block auction for personal communications services. Cuccio previously worked for AirTouch Communications Inc. as vice president of European operations.

American Paging Inc. has promoted Terrence (Terry) T. Sullivan to the newly created position of senior vice president of operations and finance. Sullivan will continue to serve as chief financial officer and treasurer, and also will be responsible for operations, engineering, information services and human resources as well as finance and administration. Sullivan joined Minneapolis-based American Paging in January, coming from Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corp. in Austin, Texas. American Paging is a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems Inc.

Alan Li has been promoted to vice president of wireless engineering at Comsearch. He will be responsible for the continued expansion of the wireless engineering group and further development of high-level consulting and strategic business opportunities on behalf of Comsearch. Li was Comsearch’s director of engineering and, before joining the company, worked with Mercury One 2 One, British Telecom Research Labs, Cellnet and Unitel.

Mitch Mohr has resigned as president of Celluphone, after 13 years in that position. Celluphone’s executive vice president, Michael Mohr, will become president. Mitch Mohr will continue as chief executive officer.

Controller Tom Graziano has been promoted to vice president and chief financial officer, and Mark Marvray will move from assistant controller to controller. Celluphone is a cellular agent, distributing wireless services and products to more than 450 independent dealers in the Los Angeles area.

Comsat Mobile Communications has hired Alan Labbe, Robert Roe, Michael Smith and Craig Poyner for its government sales team. All have strong military communications backgrounds, which Comsat hopes will strengthen its ability to provide the U.S. government with commercial satellite communications technology and service. Comsat Mobile, which is a business unit of Comsat Corp., offers seamless global connections and value-added services.

Elizabeth “Betty” Lynott has left PrimeCo Personal Communications and joined the management team of Americom Wireless Consulting in Lutherville, Md. Lynott was vice president and general manager of PrimeCo’s operations in Virginia. Americom recently created the wireless consulting division to provide wireless carriers and other clients with solutions for customer service, distribution, retail and operational challenges.

Wilfred James and Karen Kempton have joined Toll Free Cellular as network implementation managers. Their responsibilities will include working with designated wireless carriers to implement a toll and airtime-free service for cellular telephone users.

Prior to joining Toll Free Cellular, James worked as a senior network and systems telecommunications consultant with Andersen Consulting L.L.P. in Seattle. Kempton worked with the U.S. Air Force as Detachment Commander in the Philippines leading a telecommunications-computer operation for a Space Command radar tracking unit.

Steven F.J. Brodsky will be the new director of engineering and project management for ComTec International Inc., a development stage company formed to acquire, develop and market communication technology and wireless services for Specialized Mobile Radio.

Brodsky will oversee the engineering, construction,
network integration and database environments, which will bring ComTec into compliance with the Federal Communications Commission requirement regarding SMR licenses currently under management with the company.
