Allen Telecom Group’s Telecom Systems Division introduced NanoLite, a fiber optic microcell system the company said allows service providers to select locations for optimum cell site coverage while reducing site-related costs. The NanoLite remote unit can be mounted on utility poles, billboards, buildings and other structures where the most cellular coverage is needed. ATG said that installing NanoLite reduces the need for additional towers in certain areas and that existing cell sites may be used to house equipment serving several microcells, which further reduces site costs while improving network speed and efficiency. 216-349-8400

The SP1600L Vehicular Inmarsat M Terminal was introduced by Commercial Satellite Systems Inc. to provide mobile voice, fax and data satellite communications from most any type of vehicle to anywhere else in the world, said the Herndon, Va.-based company. The terminal, which consists of a transceiver, handset, and antenna system, uses the International Mobile Satellite Organization satellite system to allow dial-up access to any public telephone subscriber, said CSSI. 703-264-3314

A new line of alarm/fault monitoring platforms were introduced by Las Vegas-based Advanced Information Management Systems and Technologies Inc. AIMS provides a broad line of O&M and alarm monitoring platforms for wireless applications. The company is debuting three Automated System Monitor options this fall. They include a rack-mounted Pentium option that provides alarm/fault management, notification and statistical reporting; a close coupled dual processor with an independent RAID 5 file server; and site monitoring software designed to provide centralized management of tower and equipment site systems, said the company. 702-253-6104.

Zetron Inc. of Richmond, Wash., said its new LTR mobile radios allow roaming to different systems without “touching the dial.” Callers can merely dial the number and press send, said the company. Zetron added new software to existing controllers so system operators can offer new enhanced features to their customers and streamline their own networks. Identification, electronic serial numbers, deadbeat disable, auto registration and wide-area roaming are a few of the enhanced services offered with the new software, said the company. The new radio is easier to use and provides multiple site dispatch, voice messaging and one number calling. 206-820-6363

Oki Semiconductor announced amplifiers that are optimized for 850 MHz to 2.4 GHz high-efficiency, digital communications systems at 3 volts. Target applications for the amplifiers include wireless industrial, scientific and medical as well as spread spectrum and microwave cellular voice/data systems, where low distortion is a key requirement, said Oki. The company is offering two driver amplifiers, the KGF1631 and KGF1633, and one power amplifier, the KGF1658. Oki said the high gain of the two driver amplifiers increases transmitter amplifier efficiency and reduces the number of components required for a typical cellular and personal communications services digital transmitter system. The power amplifier is a low-distortion epitaxial implant power FET targeted to 3.4-volt power amplifiers in the evolving Code Division Multiple Access, spread spectrum digital cellular and PCS markets. The 1430 model is a state-of-the-art phone that includes caller identification, voice mail notification and short messaging service, 90 memory locations, custom memory programming and three language options. 770-995-9800

A one-box direct current power supply system was introduced by Hewlett-Packard Co. The unit functions as a power source and a dynamic measurement subsystem so manufacturers of portable, digital communications products can quickly and accurately assess battery operating times, said the company. The measurement and control circuitry of HP’s new dynamic measurement power supplies is a digital signal processor that captures dynamic output current of voltage waveforms. Because the system is focused in one box, costs are reduced and time is saved by eliminating the need to configure and calibrate a shunt, isolation amplifier and scope and by simplifying programming, said HP. 201-586-5800.
