BELMONT, Calif.-Western Multiplex Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Glenayre Technologies Inc., supplied two license-free LYNX spread spectrum microwave radios for instant personal communications services at the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego.
Pacific Bell Mobile Services was the official provider of wireless telecommunications services for the event. When the T1 access they needed could not be made available quickly enough, WMC was called in. Because the LYNX radios are license-free and easy to install, both were functional in less than one day.
LYNX radios have come in handy at special events such as the Super Bowl and the Olympic Games in Atlanta.
