CHICAGO- 3607 Communications Co. and Paging Network Inc. announced 3607 will begin offering PageNet’s paging services. 3607’s customers in its nearly 100 markets will have the ability to access paging services by the end of the year, said the company.
“Entering the paging business is a natural fit for 3607. Our customers continue to tell us they want convenient, one-stop shopping when it comes to their communications needs,” said Kevin Beebe, executive vice president of operations for the cellular carrier.
Previously Sprint Cellular, 3607 plans to offer local, regional and nationwide paging services as well as enhanced paging services, including voice mail and custom greeting features.
PageNet’s new agreement with 3607, like resale deals signed last year with Sprint Corp. and MCI Communications Corp., represents a new kind of resale relationship in the industry. All three resellers are branding PageNet’s services under their own names.
For each, PageNet provides not only the use of its network but a host of other services, which include customer service, support and billing, inventory, and leasing and distribution.
Based in Chicago, 3607 provides wireless voice and data services to more than 1.75 million customers in 14 states, said the company.
PageNet has 7.9 million subscribers in the United States through 95 sales and service offices and 6,000 resellers.
