RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.-IBM Mobile and Wireless Systems announced an agreement with Motorola Inc.’s Wireless Data Group and Ameritech Cellular Services to provide wireless access for Lotus Development Corp.’s software applications.
IBM said the three companies will provide hardware, software and telecommunications services to deliver a comprehensive mobile solution for users, particularly large corporations, that depend on Lotus cc: Mail and Lotus Notes software.
The “three-pronged” solution includes Ameritech’s Cellular Digital Packet Data transmission services, IBM’s wireless cellular/CDPD modem and Motorola’s AirMobile wireless software.
“To help bring wireless data solutions to market, IBM realizes the need to work with companies with expertise in specialized areas,” said Brad Silvernail, manager of IBM Mobile & Wireless Systems.
