MOTOROLA ADDS TANGO LITE TO PRODUCT FAMILY

FORT WORTH, Texas-Motorola Inc.’s Advanced Messaging Group introduced Tango Lite, the newest addition to its family of Tango two-way advanced messaging devices at the PCS ’96 Conference last week.

Tango Lite, which will operate on the ReFLEX two-way messaging protocol networks, is a two-way alphanumeric device that offers confirmation that a message was sent and received. AirTouch Paging, American Paging and PageMart plan to begin testing in early October in San Francisco, Minneapolis and Dallas, the company said.

Features of the Tango Lite include, “message lock” to place important messages in a personal file, 100 kilobytes of memory storage enabling more than 100 messages to be saved, duplicate message detection and error-free long messaging and a battery life of more than 30 days. An address book and access to information on the World Wide Web such as current stock prices, airline flight schedules, weather, sports and headline news also are available.

“This new generation of two-way messaging devices is part of Motorola’s goal to offer a tiered product portfolio of advanced messaging products,” said Mario Rivas, vice president and general manager of Motorola’s Advanced Products Division. “We are rapidly introducing a family of two-way messaging products that will suit a variety of end-user needs and preferences.”

Additional features of the Tango Lite include time and date display, programmable alarm clock, AA-battery size, Optimax holographic display and high-visibility backlighting.
