Dennis Miller is the new president of Midwest Wireless Communications, the company taking over management of Cellular 2000. The transition between MWC and Cellular 2000’s current management company, Pacific Telecom Cellular, is expected to be complete by the end of the year. Miller will be responsible for overseeing the management transition and steering the company’s growth. Previously, Miller was vice president of operations for Pacific Telecom Cellular.

Paging Network International Inc. named Izzet R. (Ike) Guney vice president of corporate development. His responsibilities will include identifying, negotiating and closing joint venture opportunities. Prior to joining Paging Network International, Guney was director of corporate development for SBC Communications Inc.

Siemens Stromberg-Carlson named Thorsten Heins director of the company’s Wireless Business Unit. Heins has held several leadership positions at Siemens since he joined the company in 1984. Most recently he was head of the Mobile Networks Product Planning department for Siemens AG in Munich, Germany.

Shandwick Public Affairs announced it has promoted Jeanie Ryan from vice president to senior vice president of the company’s Telecommunications and Marketing Communications Team, which handles public affairs, marketing communications and media relations for personal communications services providers.

Metrocall Inc. has promoted Tom Matthews to senior vice president of operations. He will be responsible for management of corporate and field operations, marketing programs, product management, training, customer care and development of strategic alliances and joint ventures. In addition, Matthews will oversee the integration process for Metrocall’s recently announced acquisitions. Matthews most recently served as both Metrocall’s vice president of sales and marketing and vice president of the Atlantic Region.

Jane Zweig has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing and client relations at Herschel Shosteck Associates Ltd. Zweig has been with the company since 1989 when she was director of marketing. In 1991 she was named vice president of marketing. “Through determination, she has mastered a clear understanding of the markets and technologies of the wireless industries,” said Dr. Herschel Shosteck, president and chief executive officer of the company. “As such, she is able to ensure that our clients receive information which is central to their strategic and profit planning.”

Ericsson Inc. announced it has appointed John Giere vice president of the company’s public affairs operations in Washington D.C. He will be responsible for managing the public government and regulatory affairs of the Ericsson management team in the United States. Prior to joining Ericsson, Giere was president of Kutak Rock Government Relations Group, a national law firm.
