Alltel Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alltel Corp., a communications and information management company that provides local telephone and long-distance, cellular service, information services and other related services.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.-Motorola Inc.’s International Cellular Infrastructure Group has been awarded contracts to deploy separate wireless local loop systems in Guinea Equatorial, Africa.

The two analog WiLL systems, linked to an Alcatel switch, will provide wireless telephone service to Bata and Malabo, the capital city. Service to Guinea Equatorial is scheduled to begin this October, the company said.

“Installation of these new, innovative wireless systems will enable GETESA to meet its government mandate to provide cost-effective telephone service to both residential and business subscribers and help alleviate the pent-up demand for basic telephony in this developing nation,” said Pertti Johansson, senior vice president and general manager of Motorola’s ICIG.

The contract was awarded to Motorola by GETESA, the Guinea Equatorial operator for national and international communications, J.V. France Cable Radio and the Guinea Equatorial Government.
