GREENVILLE, S.C.-PCS Development Corp. announced it has agreed to provide mobile voice messaging services to Metrocall Inc. for one year.
Currently, PCSD is developing a narrowband personal communications services network, which will provide a portable voice messaging, or wireless “pocket answering machine,” service to business people and consumers on a nationwide basis in 1997.
“We view this agreement as a true partnership in which we will work with PCSD to help build the market demand for a new category of services: mobile voice messaging,” said William L. Collins III, president and chief executive officer of Metrocall. “As part of this, we expect to gain valuable feedback from PCSD’s current beta trials in Atlanta and Boston, which will provide a foundation for future joint marketing efforts.”
Harry Latham, PCSD’s senior vice president of sales and marketing said, “We believe that Metrocall, with its extensive and still expanding network of affiliates and re-sellers, represents a powerful distribution partner for our mobile voice messaging services.’
