CINCINNATI-Cincinnati Microwave Inc. introduced its third-generation Cellular Digital Packet Data modem, the MC-DART 300, in original equipment manufacturer and stand-alone versions. The MC-DART adds full duplex capabilities to the features of the company’s earlier CDPD modems, all of which comply fully with CDPD 1.1 specifications, the company said.
MC-DART modems currently are used in the United States and other countries in applications including wireless credit card verification, telemetry, vehicle tracking and wireless ATMs.
The stand alone version is a natural choice for applications that must transmit high data volumes such as public safety, dispatch and file transfer, said Greg Blair, vice president of product management. The OEM version is useful for embedding into specialized hardware.
The built-in TCP/IP stacks eliminate the need for external software stacks, enabling applications to be brought on line quickly. Diagnostic functions are included in the modem firmware, allowing developers to troubleshoot CDPD operations, the company said.
