SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Conductus Inc. received awards from two government agencies to develop superconducting and cryogenic technology for use in wireless base stations.
The first contract was awarded to a consortium composed of Conductus, Bell Labs and CTI-Cryogenics by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The companies will test the ability of cryogenic electronics, including superconductive filters, to meet the performance requirements of future civilian and military systems.
The second contract is a one-year award valued at $1.46 million, given to Conductus by the Naval Research Laboratory.
Under the contracts, Conductus will work to develop solutions to the problem of combining multiple technologies that would support the successful deployment of cryoelectronic components in wireless applications.
