NEW YORK-Pacific Bell Mobile Services has signed a three-year contract to purchase WinStar Communications Inc.’s Wireless Fiber service capabilities.
Pacific Bell said it expects increasing demands for T-1 and DS-3 lines, which have greater capacity for voice, data and video applications. WinStar will use its licenses in the 38 GHz band and other parts of the spectrum to provide wireless services to Pacific Bell.
“California customers are some of the most communications intensive in the country, and we’re aggressively seeking ways to provide them with more of the services they want, when they want,” said Lee Bauman, vice president of local competition for Pacific Bell.
