LITTLE CHUTE, Wis.-Airadigm Communications has chosen Ericsson Inc. as equipment vendor for the company’s personal communications services network.
Airadigm hopes to deploy service early next year. The Little Chute, Wis.-based company holds 13 C-block licenses to provide 1900 MHz service throughout Wisconsin and in the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, Iowa, basic trading areas. Airadigm is using Global System for Mobile communications technology.
“The selection of Ericsson was made using many of the same criteria we used in making GSM our technology choice,” said Carl Artman, Airadigm president.
“Both decisions help us achieve one of the company’s key business plan objectives of being first to market in as many of our BTAs as possible.”
Airadigm was formed in 1995 and is privately held. The majority owner, with 50.1 percent, is Wisconsin Wireless Corp. The minority owner is the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin.
Airadigm’s footprint covers 3.2 million pops.
