ATLANTA-Motorola Inc.’s Platform Software Division formed an alliance with Starfish Software Inc. to run Starfish’s Sidekick personal information manager on Memos, Motorola’s open software operating environment for the wireless industry. The company said Sidekick for Memos will be available during the second half of next year.
Memos was designed to provide connectivity and personalization for end-user’s communication devices. It will be incorporated into products developed by Motorola’s communications businesses as well as being offered to the entire communications industry.
Together with Sidekick, which is designed for Internet and intranet applications, users can schedule meetings and coordinate group events and resources using Internet mail. Recipients may receive the message via e-mail, pager or fax, and send a response back to Sidekick, which automatically schedules the meeting into the user’s calendar.
“Sidekick was designed to help people manage important personal information using the Internet and intranet,” said Philippe Kahn, chairman and cofounder of Starfish.
