MOBILEONE SERVICE STARTS IN SINGAPORE

SINGAPORE-MobileOne of Singapore announced it turned on its cellular network for limited use and plans to launch service commercially in April.

Goh Chee Wee, Singapore’s Minister of the State for Trade, Industry and Communications, said the early activation will allow MobileOne to test and fine tune the network before opening it to the public.

Keppel Corp. and Singapore Press Holdings each hold 35 percent ownership in MobileOne. Cable and Wireless plc of the United Kingdom and HongKong Telecommunications each hold a 15 percent interest in the consortium.
