ISSAQUAH, Wash.-Western Wireless Corp. launched its VoiceStream wireless service in Des Moines, Iowa. It is the sixth personal communications service market the company has launched.
VoiceStream PCS includes wireless phone, paging and answering machine capabilities, as well as caller ID, call waiting, two-way text messaging, improved sound quality and digital encryption.
The network uses Global System for Mobile communications technology.
The company also has systems on line in Honolulu, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, N.M., Salt Lake City, Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash. It expects to launch service in Denver early this year.
