Samsung Telecommunications America Inc. introduced its SCH-1011, a personal communications services handset using Code Division Multiple Access technology, and SCH-110, a cellular dual-mode CDMA handset. The products include menu-driven interfaces to access functions like messaging and memory. Other features include caller ID, call timer, voice privacy, call restriction, power save mode, last number re-dial, auto lock, memory storage of up to 100 numbers, short message service and three-line display with 12 characters per line. The Federal Communications Commission granted type acceptance to Spectrian Corp.’s family of multicarrier amplifiers. The Spectrian Quad-LOOP 30 watt, 50 watt and 100 watt amplifiers are designed to run on Advanced Mobile Phone Service, Time Division Multiple Access and Code Division Multiple Access systems. Nokia Corp. announced it will begin shipping its Nokia 2190 enhanced full rate phone for Global System for Mobile communications 1900 networks in March. The phone includes a multiparty calling feature, call privacy and security with the Subscriber Identity Module card, two-way paging, call forwarding and call waiting.

The company also introduced its lightweight 918 analog cellular phone. The Nokia 918 has seven one-touch feature keys including voice mail access, keyguard activation, memory storage, calling card and emergency number dialing. Motorola Inc. said Tenor, a voice pager that works like a portable answering machine, will be available to consumers in the United States during the first quarter. Tenor receives voice pages which the user can listen to immediately or store. Tenor users have the option of rewinding, fast forwarding or pausing messages. As many as four messages may be saved. Telecommunications Techniques Corp. introduced its T-Berd 2207 wireless network test equipment. The T-Berd 2207 is a modular, battery-powered, handheld test instrument designed for installation and maintenance of digital wireless networks. It conducts tests for Global System for Mobile communications 1900 systems. The instrument allows users to perform physical layer testing and dual-receiver, in-service monitoring of T1 circuit connections as well as 64 Kbps channels within a T1, the company said. DebitCom Inc. debuted its BeeperCard product, a prepaid 800 number for pagers. The BeeperCard service eliminates losses due to unpaid 800 number overcalls, the company said. The service also allows paging retailers to sell pagers in areas where local numbers are not available. The company said the card is ideal for low volume users who do not want to pay a minimum monthly charge. The BeeperCard service comes with 30 minutes of time, or about 100 pager calls. DCA Intertel introduced its 2000 line of mobile data communications products. The MDS 2000 is a mobile data station integrated into a hard shell case. The MDS 2000 can be configured to a user’s specific mobile requirements with line or wireless communication capabilities. The MP 2000 is a mobile impact printer for use in vehicles or airplanes. The ruggedized dot-matrix printer is designed for mobile printing and can be used either with sprocket-fed or friction-fed documents. The HPC 2000 is a field computer with an 80386 processor. Joslyn Electronic Systems Corp. said it developed a hybrid surge protector for use with the wireless, cellular, personal communications services and microwave industries. The company’s Surgitron PMT allows service providers to access, monitor and report on remote unmanned sites. The unit uses self-diagnostics to assure proper operation and has a built-in audible alarm. It remotely reports all events allowing predictive maintenance monitoring of voltage aberrations at both manned and unmanned sites, the company said. The VSD-MTS is a plug-in full duplex scrambler that interfaces to the PCF-MTS interconnect. It provides encryption to all on-air traffic from the telephone to mobile or portable phones and decryption of audio. The VSD-INT is a universal full duplex scrambler that can be interfaced to most interconnects to allow encryption and decryption of on-air traffic from a telephone to a mobile or portable phone.
