WEST POINT, Ga.-Personal communications services provider Powertel Inc. launched its Huntsville, Ala., market. The company said it is the 16th market up since it initially launched service in October.
“Huntsville is a valuable addition to our network,” said Allen Smith, president and chief executive officer of Powertel, a wholly owned subsidiary of InterCel Inc. “It’s a very technology-oriented and forward-thinking city; one in which we expect our PCS offering to be well received.”
The company said most of its markets in the Birmingham, Ala., Jacksonville, Fla., and Memphis, Tenn./Jackson, Miss., major trading areas already are available to customers. The Atlanta market is scheduled to launch during the fourth quarter.
