SAN JOSE, Calif.-AT&T Wireless Services Inc.’s Wireless Data Division teamed with Infinite Technologies to provide users with remote access to local area network-based e-mail.
Using Infinite’s InterChange remote e-mail server software and AT&T’s PocketNet service, customers can manage their e-mail over the Internet from a cellular phone, the company said. The PocketNet phone uses UP.Link software from Unwired Planet Inc. to access the Internet or corporate intranet. Infinite InterChange, which installs on a Windows 95 or NT computer, provides the e-mail connectivity.
“Customers consistently tell us that direct access to a single e-mail box is a crucial need for wireless remote connectivity,” said Jeff Damir, director of strategy for AT&T’s data division. “Infinite InterChange provides this capability, significantly simplifying e-mail management from remote sites.”
Infinite InterChange is priced at $300 for 10 users.
