STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson, Swedish mobile telephone operator Telia AB and truck manufacturer Scania began a project to demonstrate the viability of secure intranet access using Global System for Mobile communications technology.
The project, which is scheduled to last one month, involves users at the information and marketing departments at Scania’s corporate headquarters in Sweden. Users will have full access to the Scania intranet during the project, the companies said.
“All information on corporate (local area networks) and intranets can be accessible to staff regardless of time and place,” said Mats Gustafsson of Telia’s business development department.
“The new technology facilitates reduced call set-up times and ensures secure transmissions,” he said.
