NOKIA TO SUPPLY SHANGHAI NETWORK

HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. signed an agreement to supply a Digital Cellular System 1800 cellular network to Shanghai Post and Telecommunications Administration. Nokia values the agreement at $20 million.

The DCS-1800 cellular network includes a Nokia DX 200 mobile switching center with potential capacity of up to 150,000 subscribers, a home location register, compact base stations and base station controllers as well as a full-scale network management system. Nokia also will supply its Artus Data Communications Server (DaCS), which gives subscribers access to the Internet or corporate intranets.

The system initially will cover the region of Shanghai with 13 million residents.
