LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel Corp. said it is combining its wireline and cellular operations into a single organization. Alltel Telephone Services Corp., Alltel Mobile Communications Inc. and Alltel Communications Inc. will form a new business, Alltel Communications.
The goal of the restructuring is to move Alltel from a product/business focus to a market/customer focus in operations, said Scott Ford, executive vice president of Alltel. The company also wants to emphasize teamwork over internal management, increase its competitive sales and customer service-oriented business and change its business line-oriented infrastructure to an integrated one focused on service and profit.
Ford said the company will add jobs as it builds out its personal communications services network this year. The company plans to bundle services including long-distance, Internet access and local telephone service.
“We don’t want to be everything to everybody,” said Ford. “We want to be known as a company that talks straight and responds quickly to solve problems and provide quality services to our customers.”
