ERICSSON TO EXPAND NETWORKS IN CHINA

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson signed two contracts to expand Global System for Mobile communications and Total Access Communications System mobile networks in the Hebei province of China. The company values the contracts with Hebei Post & Telecommunications Administration at $71 million.

The first contract, which accounts for $21 million, is the third expansion of the Hebei GSM network. The new total capacity of the system will be 160,000 users.

The second contract, valued at $50 million, calls for Ericsson to expand the Hebei TACS network to support 370,000 subscribers.
