NOKIA WILL SUPPLY MURMANSK NETWORK

HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. signed an agreement to supply and install an analog Nordic Mobile Telephone cellular network in Murmansk, Russia, for AOZT Tele-North.

Nokia will provide equipment including a DX 200 MTX mobile switch, base stations and transmission equipment. Tele-North currently is operating with NMT 450 base stations in Murmansk connected to a mobile switch in Finland. The new MTX will allow Tele-North’s network to be part of the Russian Federal NMT 450 network, allowing subscribers to roam between the networks.
