PHOENIX, Ariz.-AG Communication Systems said Ameritech Cellular Services selected its INgage Authorization and Call Routing Equipment technology for use in Ameritech’s Dual Link service.
The Dual Link service allows customers to be reached at home or away from home using a single number. When the handset is within a certain distance of a personal base station, ACRE automatically routes incoming and outgoing calls over the landline network, eliminating cellular charges.
When the handset is out of range of the base station, calls are routed through Ameritech Cellular’s network.
The INgage ACRE service is part of a contract between Ameritech and Tandem Computers Inc., which is providing its INS-2000 intelligent network servers for the service.
