SUNNYVALE, Calif.-Cellcom, which operates a cellular network in Wisconsin and Iowa, will purchase four beta units of Conductus Inc.’s ClearSite receiver subsystem following a successful trial of the system, Conductus said.
Cellcom is evaluating how many additional sites should be upgraded with the system.
Data from the four Cellcom beta sites indicated dropped call rates were reduced by 20 percent using the ClearSite systems. Focus group studies of Cellcom customers found that quality of service and coverage also were improved with ClearSite units.
