SKOKIE, Ill.-U.S. Robotics and Northern Telecom Ltd. agreed to jointly develop wireless data access products for mobile professionals needing wireless access to e-mail, the Internet and other data applications.
“Digital wireless technology promises faster, higher quality and more reliable data transmission than circuit-switched analog cellular solutions commonly available today,” said Hermon Pon, assistant vice president of Wireless Networks for Nortel.
“We’re working with U.S. Robotics to provide our customers a very flexible platform for digital wireless transmission using CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) or TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology.”
