STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson demonstrated a two-way hyperband hand-off between 1900 MHz and 800 MHz radio frequencies at the Universal Wireless Communications conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The demonstration means network operators using the Digital-Advanced Mobile Phone Service Interim Standard-136 digital wireless standard will be able to provide uniform, seamless service to subscribers across both frequency bands, said the company. D-AMPS is the only digital wireless standard that has the ability to achieve this cross-spectrum, real-time, seamless call hand-off, the company added.
The demonstration calls were made on Mobikom’s D-AMPS wireless network.
“This successful demonstration of dual-banding is a significant milestone in achieving the Universal Wireless Communication vision of global roaming with one wireless standard and one phone,” said Jan W
