CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J.-Omnipoint Communications Inc. made its Voice Dial service available to all of its subscribers. Voice Dial allows customers to speak the names or numbers they wish to call without dialing by hand.
The system can dial any 10-digit telephone number. Customers say “dial,” then speak the digits of the telephone number they wish to reach.
In addition, Voice Dial can store up to 50 numbers that can be connected by speaking the name of a person or place. The service is included with the Value and Advanced Feature packages.
“Voice Dial is an important addition to Omnipoint’s suite of advanced features,” said George Schmitt, president of Omnipoint. “It is particularly useful for dialing when you need your eyes and hands for other operations, such as driving a car.”
