CHICAGO-3607 Communications Corp. reported increases in net income and operating revenues for the third quarter ended Sept. 30.
Net income for the quarter totaled $28.9 million, or 24 cents per share, compared with net income of $22.9 million, or 20 cents per share, for the third quarter of 1996. Net income for the first nine months of 1997 reached $60.1 million, or 49 cents per share, compared with net income of $54.2 million, or 46 cents per share, for the corresponding period last year.
Operating revenues increased 23 percent to $347.5 million from $281.7 million for the third quarter of 1996.
For the first nine months, operating revenues increased 25 percent to $994.6 million from $795.5 million during the same period last year.
The company added 87,000 net customers during the quarter, compared with 100,000 net additions during the third quarter 1996. The company reported a total of 2.45 million customers.
