SAN JOSE, Calif.-Synacom Technology Inc. signed a purchase agreement with Daewoo Telecom of South Korea for its CloneSafe Interim Standard-41 authentication product. Synacom said it signed a similar deal with AirTouch Cellular.
CloneSafe allows carriers to receive authentication keys via electronic data interchange from phone manufacturers to generate new, random A-keys. Carriers then can distribute A-Keys to their provisioning systems to be loaded onto their network, explained Synacom.
According to the agreement with AirTouch, Synacom’s CloneSafe product will be used to prevent fraud throughout its system.
The agreement with Daewoo calls for the South Korean company to resell the CloneSafe Secure Authentication Center and Secure A-Key Management Systems to wireless carriers in Korea, with the first installation for Korea Telecom Freetel.
