Astronet Corp. announced the promotions and additions of several employees. Dave Segbers was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing, from director of the same division. Max Ohyama was hired as his assistant vice president. Randy Terman was promoted to marketing manager from OffiCell product line manager. James Filsinger was promoted to the sales and marketing team from OffiCell manager/trainer. Irene Moore was hired to the position of marketing communications manager.

DigiPH PCS, a personal communications services company in Alabama, announced the addition of several new senior-level employees. Annice Jordan was named chief financial officer. She will oversee the accounting and finance departments. Jordan formerly was accounting manager for Millry Telephone Co. Tim Flynn was hired on as budget director. He formerly was a controller for the Tia’s Tex-Mex concept at Ruby Tuesday Inc. Lastly, Tim Norris was hired as market manager in northwest Florida. He will be responsible for managing all sales channels and other business activity for the region. Previously, Norris was regional sales manager for Powertel PCS.

Mark Hodgson joined The Pocket Phone Shop as its new sales director. The Pocket Phone Shop, which said it is one of the United Kingdom’s fastest growing mobile phone retailers, has opened 35 stores in three years and plans to operate 100 by the end of next year. Hodgson’s experience includes positions as sales director of Astec and head of commercial development at WaveTech. He will be responsible for overseeing an increase in the company’s sales force from 100 to about 250, and he also will oversee the increase in connection levels from 5,000 to 15,000 per month, said the company.

Bob Wise was appointed to the newly created position of manager of international sales for SmartLink Development L.P. Previously, Wise was a project manager at KRW United Corp., which represents SmartLink interests in Central and South America. Prior to that, he was the area business manager for Far East & Pacific with Ericsson Inc. in Lynchburg, Va.

The Telecommunications Resellers Association announced that Stephen D. Trotman will join the association staff in the newly created position of director of local services. Trotman will create and direct all of TRA’s local resale service programs. Trotman most recently was with American Communications Services Inc., a competitive local exchange carrier located in Annapolis Junction, Md. As director of customer service, Trotman was responsible for launching and implementing ACSI’s Business Services Call Center supporting local switch service customers. Previously, he served as senior product manager, responsible for developing ACSI’s local switch and enhanced voice service product offerings.

Don Schrock has been promoted to president of Qualcomm Inc.’s Application Specific Integrated Circuit business. Schrock joined Qualcomm in 1996 as corporate vice president and assumed leadership of the ASIC Products Division in August 1996. Schrock’s extensive background includes more than 20 years experience in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Schrock served as group vice president and division manager of Hughes’ Microelectronics Division. Schrock also held senior operations and general management positions in Motorola Inc.’s semiconductor group, at Burr-Brown Corp. and Applied Micro Circuits Corp.

Philips Consumer Communications L.P. said it appointed Michael Lang vice president of marketing, PCC Americas. Based in Dallas, Lang will direct all strategic marketing operations and will oversee marketing relationships with all retail customers and wireless service providers for PCC’s complete range of consumer communications products for the Americas region, said the company. Lang previously was vice president and general manager of Mobile Telecommunication Technologies Inc.’s Destineer General Affiliate where he established several new reseller relationships with key customers.
