Dataradio introduced T-Base, a transparent integrated radio modem base/repeater unit. It features vir-tually no bit dribble and is compatible with most protocols, including Modbus binary, and also is capable of continuous duty transmit operation, said the company. The T-Base has remote online radio-frequency network diagnostic capability, allowing the user to dispatch repair efforts before a total communications failure causes loss of data. The di-agnostic capabilities operate in real time and do not require a shutdown of the SCADA application, according to the company. (770) 392-0002.

Wilmore Electronics Co. Inc. announced a 24- to 13.6-volt DC-DC converter that provides 30 amperes of output power. The Model 1645 is designed to operate standard 12-volt mobile equipment on vehicles with 24-volt negative-ground electrical systems. The converter is well suited for powering mobile-radio transceivers, fare boxes, signs and other instrumentation aboard transit buses, fleet trucks, construction equipment and other industrial vehicles, said Wilmore. It has a power-conversion efficiency of 94 percent and an operating temperature range of -22 to -140 degrees F (-30 C to 60 C). Protection against output overloads, short circuits and input polarity reversal is provided. (919) 732-9351.

Root Inc. introduced the Rz96003, a 2.4 GHz industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band spread spectrum multiplexed wireless modem that has a transmission rate of up to 2 megabits per second. The modem can transfer 57.6 kilobits per second of continuous data each direction simultaneously when used in the configuration that uses eight full duplex channels. The modem also can be configured to have up to 13 full duplex channels at 38.4 kilobits per second, or 16 channels operating at 19.2 kilobits per second. The Tz96003 communication ranges are up to one-eighth of a mile indoors, and up to 2 miles outdoors. (805) 929-8074.

Norstar announced the Genesis Portable CLA-type Hands-Free Kit, which has been specifically engineered for full compatibility with Code Division Multiple Access technology. It will support every CDMA handset on the market. There is a button that switches operation from privacy mode to hands-free, and the kit comes with an external microphone. (650) 873-3010.

NotePage Inc. introduced a new version of its PageGate networkable paging engine that uses any front-end interfaces to send text messages to alphanumeric pagers. Interfaces that are currently available are the e-mail interface, Web (CGI) interface and the Commandline/ASCII interface. (781) 829-0500.

Relm Communications introduced the MS Series mobile scanners that have fast scan of up to 100 channels per second, priority scan, birdie lockout, weather search, LCD display and direct channel access. The MS 180 and MS 200 also come with a BNC antenna connector, a line out with audio, an external speaker jack and a memory lock to prevent accidental reprogramming or frequency deletion. The scanners cover 12 bands including aircraft, government, 2 meter ham, high band, UHF, T band and 800 MHz. (407) 953-7953.

IFR Systems Inc. introduced a new option for testing MPT1327 terminal and fixed units to the COM-120B hardware platform. The new option provides industry leading protocol measurement capabilities and supports MPT1327 network installation, commissioning and troubleshooting test applications. With the COM-120B acting as a radio unit, parametric measurements and performance analysis of repeater sites is possible. This capability allows radio-to-radio and radio-to-repeater testing without typing up the repeater.

Plantronics Inc. introduced the first complete family of headsets for use with cellular, personal communications service and cordless phones. They will be available in three different styles. The CHS142N headset allows users to choose the configuration that best suits their needs, and comes in an adjustable headband or over-the-ear styles.
