SAN JOSE, Calif.-VLSI Technology Inc. introduced the OneC Global System for Mobile communications platform, a customizable, single-chip baseband silicon solution.
The OneC chip enables manufacturers to customize semiconductors for GSM mobile phones or related applications such as mobile computing, personal digital assistants and global positioning systems.
The modular architecture of the OneC allows high volume mobile phone manufacturers to differentiate their products by customizing the OneC’s standard design with proprietary modifications. The company said the OneC chip will eliminate the trade-off manufacturers make between flexibility and time to market.
