FORT WORTH, Texas-Uniden America Corp. promoted Al Silverberg from vice president of sales to president of the company. As president, he will oversee the company’s business in North, Central and South America.
Silverberg has been with Uniden for 15 years, joining the company in 1980 as a
regional manager. He was promoted to regional vice president in 1984, and left Uniden in 1986 to join Bush Industries as the national sales manager.
After two years, Silverberg rejoined Uniden as vice president of sales in the personal telecommunications division, where he oversaw expansion of the company’s cordless telephone division to more than 50 models.
Silverberg then was promoted to executive vice president of sales for the entire company, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and new product development for all Uniden product groups, which represent more than $500 million in annual sales.
One of Silverberg’s first initiatives as president will be the launch of a 900 MHz cordless telephone that features voice-recognition technology, the company said. “Al’s exceptional track record with our company made him the perfect candidate to direct Uniden America Corp. as we approach the new millennium with innovative new products that implement the latest technologies,” said Hidero Fujimoto, chairman of Uniden Corp.
