LUXEMBOURG-Millicom International Cellular S.A. was formally granted the right to provide nationwide coverage in the United Republic of Tanzania, said the company.
Millicom also increased its ownership in Mobitel from 51 percent to 57 percent.Tanzania has a population of 29.6 million people.
“Tanzania has one of the lowest telephone densities in the world at under seven telephones per 1,000 population,” said Marc Beuls, president and chief executive officer of Millicom.
